Our History

Al-Salam Day School (ADS) was established in 1990 at the West Pine Masjid (currently Masjid Bilal) on the St. Louis University Campus in St. Louis with few students in Preschool and Kindergarten. After gradually adding a grade each year, ADS reached up to 8th grade by 1997, when its first class of 8th graders graduated. These students continued their high school education at various local schools.

Due to space constraints at the Masjid, fundraising efforts began to build a separate school and gymnasium. By 2007, ADS moved into its new campus and has since focused on continuous improvement.

In 2014, ADS purchased the Early Childhood Center located close to its main campus, which now houses Montessori daycare and preschool programs.

In August 2014, ADS completed construction of additional facilities, enabling expansion to include high school grades starting from 9th and 10th grade levels. The Al-Salam College Preparatory program offers standard courses, dual enrollment options, some AP courses, and dual enrollment in Islamic Studies with Mishkah University.

In 2015, ADS established a satellite campus in North St. Louis county, initially serving PreK-5th grade students. This campus operates under the governance of the ADS board and is led by the principal of Al-Salam Day School, steadily growing year by year under the leadership of the North campus Director.
